Global Freight Awards win repeated
The Lloyds Loading List Global Freight Awards ceremony was held last night at London’s Lancaster Gate Hotel, with Metro celebrating a win and a highly commended runners-up.
Providing maritime intelligence for over 150 years, The Lloyds Loading List is the only source of weekly news and export schedules and is the freight sectors ‘Bible’; a fixture in shipping departments around the world.
Their coveted Global Freight Awards honour freight forwarding excellence by recognising innovative ideas and class leading projects that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the global supply chain during the past year, attracting entries from the biggest names in forwarding, shipping, rail, road and ports.
Highly commended by the judges, Metro’s undergraduate placement programme, which introduces new talent into the business by identifying and nurturing promising students, was runner-up in the Employer of the Year category.
Marking a third success in two years, Metro were winners in the Supply Chain Partnership Award, demonstrating to the judges how the business created a collaborative initiative with airlines and airport operators, accelerating supply chains and transporting product more efficiently.
The successful entry described efforts to improve reliability of services and increase the spread of origins and carriers, creating a larger network, with new routes added to grow the Metro Multi Country Consolidation platform, including Myanmar and other South East Asia origins, along with China and Hong Kong.
Metro director, Tom Fernihough. “We are delighted to be the recipient of the prestigious accolade and thank the judges for their acknowledgement of our team’s and partners efforts. We will continue our commitment to grow our air freight services, developing innovations and the tailor-made solutions that sustain relationships with our customers and increase efficiency.”
