Pricing Specialist – Ocean

We’re looking for a customer-focused Pricing Specialist professional to join our high-performing team based at our Birmingham Business Park HQ.

What You’ll Be Doing
As part of our Trade & Commercial team, you’ll be building and maintaining strong relationships with
customers, carriers, and suppliers to negotiate and confirm rates effectively. Your role will include:

  • Managing customer quotations through varying methods, including email and online portals.
  • Supporting with all aspects of ocean pricing including imports, exports and cross trade.
  • Negotiating rates with carriers, hauliers and suppliers; confirming equipment availability and
    agreeing prices where no tariff exists to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Preparing and submitting customer quotations and proposals .
  • Creating and issuing quotations using our in-house system.
  • Communicating with customers to follow up on quotes and obtain feedback to measure, analyse
    and circulate to the relevant teams, adjusting pricing where possible to ensure we secure
    opportunities.
  • Collaborating with ocean freight operational teams to ensure smooth handover of secured
    shipments.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the success and failure rates of quotations to management.
  • Developing strong relationships to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Producing strategic tariffs as needed to support efficient workload management, ensuring they
    remain current and relevant.
  • Keeping up to date with carrier websites and notifications.
  • Promoting continuous improvement
  • Any other delegated tasks deemed reasonable as assigned by the reporting manager in line with
    department growth

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who’s not just experienced, but passionate about logistics. You’ll need:

  • Industry and operational knowledge of Ocean freight - inbound, outbound, and cross trade.
  • An understanding of how to influence the profitability through effective pricing is preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality service.
  • A sharp eye for detail and understanding of its commercial impact.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal. Experience communicating with external
    stakeholders and suppliers is preferred
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and Windows systems (Cargowise experience is a plus).
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with great time management.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and self-motivation
