Metro Shortlisted for Five Major Industry Awards

Metro has secured five national award nominations across the Logistics UK Awards and the BIFA Freight Service Awards, reflecting our continued investment in people, innovation and high-quality logistics solutions.

These short-listings highlight the strength and breadth of capability across Metro, from apprentices and graduates, to global operations and technology-led services.

Two members of Metro’s early-career talent pool — Callum Gutteridge and Rory Sneddon — have been shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year at the Logistics UK Awards.

  • Callum Gutteridge has rapidly advanced from airfreight operations into a commercially focused pricing role, supporting key customers with data-driven insights and managing complex charter and automotive movements.
  • Rory Sneddon has become a key part of Metro’s multimodal export team, recognised for handling time-critical specialist vehicle shipments, overcoming customs challenges and consistently delivering exceptional service.

Metro and our specialist subsidiary Elite have also earned three short-listings at the BIFA Freight Service Awards:

Apprentice of the Year – Joseph Duffy (Metro)
Joseph’s nomination reflects his significant contribution to operational improvement, including reducing short-shipped bookings by over 80%, resolving high-impact customer issues and sharing best practice across teams.

Staff Development Award – Metro
Metro’s people-first approach underpinned the successful launch of our India operation, supported by structured onboarding, capability mapping and more than 300 hours of blended training. The initiative has delivered zero attrition, reduced manual processes and a 20% reduction in customer costs.

Value-Added Logistics Services – Elite
Elite’s innovative use of GPS, geo-fencing and the MVT platform has transformed the management of a 700-tank global fleet. Real-time visibility and automated workflows have halved dwell times, increased utilisation by more than 20% and strengthened customer ROI.

The final results will be announced at the Logistics UK Awards in December and the BIFA Freight Service Awards in January, both major events that celebrate excellence across the UK logistics and forwarding industry.

Metro’s presence across both shortlists shines a spotlight on our ongoing commitment to developing talent, strengthening our service offering and driving measurable value for customers. Regardless of the final outcomes, they underscore the passion, expertise and innovation that define Metro’s approach across all markets.
