Metro has become a member of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, to be closer to the beating heart of the automotive industry and to share best practice in managing supply chains, to optimise manufacturing, assembly and despatch – to accelerate global success.

For over 40 years Metro has been working with leading automotive brands, OEMs and suppliers, creating supply chain solutions for inbound product flows, aftermarket logistics, distributor support, finished vehicle transport and special projects.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the UK. It is the voice of the UK motor industry, supporting and promoting its members’ interests, at home and abroad, to government, stakeholders and the media.

The impact of the Covid pandemic on the automotive supply chain has been extensive, affecting inbound supply, production and the final delivery of finished vehicles.

It is more critical than ever that OEM and automotive manufacturers have efficient supply chains, to maintain uninterrupted production lines, dispatch, shipping and delivery operations. Metro maintain efficiency and prevent blockages by coordinating procurement and inbound freight operations, while using express services for urgent components and parts.

Improvements in logistics drive down the cost of vehicle manufacturing and significantly increase productivity and Metro look forward to sharing best-practice and providing guidance and support to SMMT members, to improve the efficiency of their automotive logistics operations.

The SMMT recognise the critical importance of Automotive Logistics, with a range of initiatives for senior industry executives, that will give us the opportunity to share our experience and also, critically, learn lessons from other participants, while aligning Metro ever closer with this critical vertical and the people that are driving the motor industry.
